How to use this calculator
Start with the price of the machine you're after. Drop in any deposit you're willing to tip in upfront, then set a rate that's roughly in the ballpark of what your business would attract. Most Aussie asset finance for business borrowers lands somewhere between 7% and 12% depending on the asset, the term and your file.
Term lengths sit between one and seven years for most equipment. Longer terms drop your repayment but bump up the total interest you'll pay across the life of the loan. So what? Pick the shortest term your cashflow can comfortably handle and you'll save thousands.
A balloon (or residual) is a lump sum left over at the end of the loan. Stick a 20% balloon on a five-year deal and your monthly repayments drop straight away, but you've got a chunk of cash to find at the end. Handy for cashflow, costly long-term.
A quick note on accuracy
This calculator gives you a clean, indicative number based on a standard amortised loan. Real-world quotes include lender fees, broker fees and sometimes stamp duty, all of which shift the final repayment slightly. Treat the result as a fair estimate, not a binding quote.
